EORI registration
Another relevant obligation for economic operators in the E.U. is to obtain the EORI number. This registration number is assigned ex-officio by the Government Authorities to companies established in the EU custom territory for their import/export transactions. However, companies which are not established in the EU territory are obliged to obtain the EORI number if they:
- Present in the EU a summary declaration or a customs declaration, with some exceptions.
- Present an exit or entry summary declaration.
- Operate a temporary storage facility.
- Apply for an authorization as consignor for the issuance of dispatching documents T2L or as consignor for a transit procedure.
- Apply for a certificate as an Authorized Economic Operator (AEO).
In the case of permanent establishments and branches they can use the EORI number assigned to their parent company.
